This number usually consists of <strong data-start=\"468\" data-end=\"481\">16 digits<\/strong>, of which the first seven correspond to the country identifier and the card issuer (Visa, Mastercard). The remaining digits are assigned by the issuing bank and are linked to the cardholder, banking details and card type.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"707\" data-end=\"956\">Although this is the most common format, some brands such as American Express use a different numbering system. This structure makes it possible to identify the card itself, the cardholder and the issuing bank, ensuring greater control and security.<\/p>\n<h2 data-start=\"958\" data-end=\"997\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Differences_between_PAN_and_IBAN\"><\/span><strong data-start=\"961\" data-end=\"997\">Differences between PAN and IBAN<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"999\" data-end=\"1150\">Each code refers to a different banking product. The <strong data-start=\"1054\" data-end=\"1062\">IBAN<\/strong> identifies a <strong data-start=\"1076\" data-end=\"1092\">bank account<\/strong>, while the <strong data-start=\"1104\" data-end=\"1111\">PAN<\/strong> is the <strong data-start=\"1119\" data-end=\"1147\">number of a payment card<\/strong>. What they share is that both serve as identifiers.
