It applies when the customer is dissatisfied with the product or service received, or when the transaction must be reversed for legal or contractual reasons.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">From a more technical perspective, a refund involves reversing a previously authorised transaction and returning the funds to the same <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/paynopain.com\/en\/solution\/payment-methods\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">payment method<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> used for the purchase. This process can be managed through a virtual point-of-sale (POS) system or an online <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/paynopain.com\/en\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">payment gateway<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, ensuring that the reimbursement is processed securely and can be fully tracked.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Types_of_refunds\"><\/span><b>Types of refunds<\/b><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Refunds can be classified according to the type of reimbursement or compensation received by the customer:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Full refund:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> the customer receives the entire amount paid, including taxes and shipping costs (where applicable). For example, when a single item is returned from a multi-item order or when a discount has been applied.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Product exchange:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> instead of receiving a monetary refund, the customer exchanges the item for another of the same value. This is commonly used to manage different sizes, colours or models without issuing a refund.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Store credit:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> the customer receives credit equivalent to the value of the returned item, which can be used to purchase other products from the same retailer.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Refund with compensation:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in addition to the refund, the merchant offers extra benefits such as vouchers, coupons or promotional incentives to encourage future purchases and improve the customer experience.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Common_reasons_for_refunds\"><\/span><b>Common reasons for refunds<\/b><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Refunds are a common occurrence in <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/paynopain.com\/en\/use-case\/online-payment-platform-ecommerce\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ecommerce<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. According to industry sources consulted by <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/efe.com\/economia\/2025-09-20\/devolocion-compras-tiendas-internet-espana\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">EFE<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><b>more than 25% of online purchases in Spain are ultimately returned<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, a figure that can increase during sales periods or special promotional campaigns.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The most common reasons for refunds in ecommerce are:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Defective, damaged or incomplete product.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Order error or product with characteristics different from those requested.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Order cancellation before dispatch.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Customer dissatisfaction with the product received.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The product does not match its description.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Exercise of the right of withdrawal (returning a product without providing a reason within the legally established period).<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The order was received later than the estimated delivery date.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>What is a refund?
