Authentication

En este artículo:

What does the authentication process consist of?

The authentication process is based on verifying a user’s identity. It ensures that the person is truly who they claim to be, guaranteeing the security of specific actions such as accessing a device, logging in or confirming a transaction.

Two-step verification

Two-step verification is used to confirm a person’s identity so that, in case of stolen credentials, no one else can access their account. Today, there are different ways to carry out this process: entering a password plus a code received by SMS or email, answering a security question, or using biometric verification.

Authentication in digital payments (PSD2)

In the field of digital payments, and with the introduction of the PSD2 (Payment Service Directive 2) regulation, one of the key security measures is the requirement that payment systems verify the user’s identity through at least two elements of Strong Customer Authentication (SCA):

Something they possess (such as their mobile phone)
Something they know (a PIN or password)
Something inherent to the user (like a fingerprint or facial recognition)
