DCC

What is DCC?

DCC (Dynamic Currency Conversion) allows currency conversion to be performed automatically during the payment process.

This enables customers to pay in the currency of their home country, while the business receives the transaction amount in euros. With this payment option, the customer knows exactly how much the transaction will cost, providing greater security and confidence.

How does DCC work?

Here’s how Dynamic Currency Conversion works:

  • Conversion option: When a customer makes a purchase in a foreign currency, they’re offered the option to pay in their own local currency through the DCC service.

  • Exchange rate: DCC applies a fixed exchange rate at the point of sale, which is shown to the customer before the transaction is completed.

  • Transparency: Customers can see the exact amount they’ll pay in their local currency, eliminating uncertainty about exchange rate fluctuations.

Impact of DCC on merchants

DCC makes international transactions easier by providing transparency in the cost of foreign purchases. However, customers should be aware of possible downsides, such as less favorable exchange rates or additional fees, and decide whether DCC is the most economical option for them.
