Settlement

What is a settlement?

A settlement refers to the transfer of funds from transactions associated with a merchant, from the acquirer’s account to the merchant’s account. Settlements are a key component in the world of financial and commercial transactions.
This process involves the finalisation and reconciliation of operations, ensuring that all parties involved receive the agreed funds and that all obligations are fulfilled.

How do settlements work?

When a transaction takes place—whether it’s a purchase, sale or service exchange—a process begins that ends with the settlement. During this stage, the transaction details are verified, the amounts to be paid or received are calculated, and the corresponding fund transfers are executed.
