Which payment methods does Tap to Pay accept?
Our Tap to Pay service allows you to accept payments with most contactless cards, including Visa, Mastercard, Maestro, and American Express. It’s also compatible with Apple Pay, Google Pay, Samsung Pay, and other digital wallets, so your customers can pay with their phone or smartwatch without needing a physical card. We’re constantly expanding the range of supported payment methods so you can offer even more options to your customers.
Why do customers need to tap their card on the back of the phone and not the front?
Tap to Pay uses NFC technology, which is typically located on the back of Android devices. That’s why, during a contactless payment, customers must hold their card near the back of the phone.
At first, this might seem confusing since people usually assume they should tap the front, but once explained, customers quickly adapt and appreciate the speed and convenience of contactless payments.
Can customers get a receipt?
Yes. With Tap to Pay, you can instantly issue digital receipts — either by having customers scan a QR code directly from the app or by sending the receipt via email. This makes checkout faster and reduces paper waste, supporting a more sustainable payment process. If you prefer, you can also connect a Bluetooth mini printer and print the receipt directly.
Can I process refunds?
Yes. With Tap to Pay, you can both accept payments and issue refunds. The process is very similar to a regular payment: simply enter the amount in the refund option, and the customer taps the same card they used for the original transaction.
What devices are compatible with Tap to Pay?
Tap to Pay currently works on Android devices that meet the following requirements: Android 8 or higher and NFC enabled. If your smartphone already allows you to make payments, you can also use it as a mobile POS terminal to accept payments.
